Accessibility

An essential part of building and maintaining your web presence

Accessibility ensures your website is for every citizen.

Accessible government websites help more people independently find information and use public services. They also require more than an automated scan or a one-time redesign.

Countyline Digital helps municipalities take a practical, ongoing approach to accessibility across website structure, content, forms, images, documents, and everyday publishing.

ADA Title II and Local Government Websites

The U.S. Department of Justice has established WCAG 2.1 Level AA as the technical standard that state and local government web content and mobile apps generally must meet. Under the current federal timeline, public entities with populations of 50,000 or more have a compliance date of April 26, 2027; entities below 50,000 and special district governments have a compliance date of April 26, 2028.

Because municipal websites continually change, accessibility is not a project that ends at launch. New pages, PDFs, images, forms, vendor tools, and staff updates can introduce new barriers.

Accessibility services are intended to support improvement and conformance efforts. No website vendor can responsibly guarantee that a changing website will remain fully compliant in every circumstance.

A better municipal website can start with a simple conversation.
